On April 24, 2008, Medford Fire Department lost two of their own in a tragic ATV accident. Firefighter John Wells and Fire Engineer Gale Gurr were both killed when their two person side-by-side ATV rolled on Baldy Mountain, near Forest Creek, in Southern Oregon.
The men were honored by the Fire Service and thousands of citizens on April 30th. The accident left two families devastated, two wives without husbands and three girls without fathers. The Medford Fire Family has pledged to take care of their own. Part of this undertaking includes planning for the college education for the daughters of our fallen comrades. The Fire Department has begun a T-shirt Sale with 100% of the proceeds going into college funds for the children of John and Gale. We very much appreciate your support.
