Improves the ability of water to suppress fire
PHOS-CHEK WD 881 was developed specifically for use in Wildland Fire Management and at the rural/urban interface. The results obtained by Wildland Fire Management Agencies around the world prove its value. While providing excellent performance in wildland fires, this foam is less expensive and is used at lower concentrates (from .02% to 1%). Wildland foams can be a cost effective tool in today’s wildland fire activities: it aids in slowing and more rapidly stopping flame spread, it provides a more effective utilization of water, and it reduces resource requirements.
Uses of WIldland Foam
- Direct application on the flame front for rapid “knockdown”
- Heavy foam blanketing in front of approaching fires where it is unsafe to reach the fire
- Reinforcement of mineral soil fire lines or natural barriers
- Penetration and fire stoppage in litter, punkie logs, etc.
- Structure protection
- Prescribed burns
Foam and Water VS. Plain Water
- Foam’s surfactant aids in water absorption by the fuel and improves water penetration of compacted fuels.
- Foam clings to and blankets the fuel, smothering the fire and reducing the air reaching the burning zone.
- Foam insulates the fuel from radiant heat, reducing the formation of combustible gases.
- Foam sticks to the fuel rather than running off as plain wateroften does.
NOTE: Available in 5-gallon pails and 55 gallon drums ONLY
