The Fire Finder Infrared Heat Sensor is an excellent aid for professional firefighters in locating hot spots or fires.
The Fire Finder is a self-contained, hand held infrared sensor that emits an audible alarm when pointed at a heat source. The hotter the source, the higher the pitch of the alarm. Conversely, the Fire Finder can be used to measure the rate or effectiveness at which the fire is being extinguished. The response time is essentially instantaneous and no eye attention is required to read meters or interpret lights. The Fire Finder has a built-in alarm every time it is turned on, thereby assuring the user of a fully operational electro-optical system.
APPLICATIONS:
- Fire Fighting: Finds the hot spot in a room filled with smoke
Locates hot walls and ceilings even through glass windows and skylights. - Forest Fires: Seeks out residual embers that are not visible to the eye in full sunlight.
- Chemical Fires: Detects transparent chemical fires such as hydrogen and methyl alcohol.
- Mop-up / Overhaul: Verifies that fire is extinguished during mop-up and overhaul.
SPECIFICATIONS:
Sensitivity: Responds to 200 Degree Fahrenheit hot area one foot square at 20 feet — even in full sunlight or dense smoke
(Can detect a lighted cigarette at 20 feet). Heat Indication: An audible alarm will sound when the Fire Finder is pointed at a hot spot.
The pitch rate of the alarm is proportional to the temperature. Response Time: Less than 0.1 second to full audible alarm. Construction: Waterproof aluminum housing, 8 inches long, and only 1.75 lbs. Built-in Test: The Fire Finder has a built-in self-test that assures the operator that the unit is functioning properly. Operation: Fire Finder requires no calibration, no stabilization time, nor does it have a high temperature limit. Power: Two standard 9-volt batteries inserted from rear cover. Warranty: Three (3) years, all parts and labor.
